Position Summary:
The Director of Digital Content leads the vision and strategy for all digital initiatives at Northwestern Media. This role oversees digital content, platforms, social media, AI integration, and digital marketing helping fulfill our mission to lead people to Jesus through Christ-centered media.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and lead a mission-driven digital content strategy across all Northwestern Media platforms including websites, mobile apps, podcasts, video, and social media to support audience growth, deepen engagement, and consistently reflect Christian values
• Oversee content creation, curation, and optimization for all digital channels, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, and messaging across platforms and stations. Outcome and measure of success will be measured by audience growth and engagement of that audience.
• Direct the strategy and execution of social media content and engagement, maintaining a cohesive voice while optimizing for platform-specific best practices and audience trends.
• Lead SEO, and support email marketing, paid media, and digital fundraising efforts to increase digital visibility, deepen engagement, and drive measurable impact.
• Leverage data analytics and audience insights to assess performance, inform decision-making, and continually optimize content strategies and delivery.
• Integrate intelligent and scalable technologies to enhance content development, audience targeting, and workflow optimization.
• Maintain high standards for user experience and accessibility, ensuring content is engaging, responsive, and inclusive across all digital touchpoints.
• Supervise a team of digital content professionals and contractors, fostering creativity, innovation, and collaboration across departments and stations.
• Lead cross-functional digital initiatives, ensuring content strategy is informed by and supportive of programming, marketing, and ministry goals.
• Monitor and evaluate trends in digital media, ministry, and technology, and translate insights into actionable strategies that keep Northwestern Media on the cutting edge of digital evangelism and engagement.
• Champion digital content excellence, ensuring all content is mission-focused, technically sound, audience-driven, and results-oriented.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience leading digital content strategy or managing multi-platform digital media teams
• Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community
Nice to have:
• Project management certification or relevant experience
• Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS)
Key Skills:
• Digital Audience Growth: Proven success in managing and expanding social media presence and audience engagement across multiple platforms, with a strong understanding of user experience principles and accessibility standards to ensure inclusive and user-friendly digital content.
• Independent & Teamwork: Proven leader skilled in managing digital content teams and cross-functional collaboration. Equally effective working independently or collaboratively, successfully driving social media and content projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
• Confidentiality: Maintains discretion and handles sensitive information appropriately.
• Organizational Skills: Skilled in planning and managing multi-platform content calendars and campaigns across web, social, video, and podcast channels. Adept at balancing multiple priorities, solving problems efficiently, and consistently meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and quality.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in SEO, email marketing, digital advertising, and online fundraising strategies. Skilled in using analytics tools to inform strategy and measure performance. Familiar with AI tools and emerging technologies that enhance content development and personalization. Proficient in a range of computer software applications.
• Written & Verbal Communication: Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills, with a strong focus on maintaining brand voice, tone, and message consistency.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
• Travel: Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for work-related purposes.
• Financial Oversight: Experience managing budgets and financial resources within assigned responsibilities.
• Driver’s License: Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
• Background Check: Must pass initial and ongoing background checks as a condition of employment.
