Position Summary:
The Academic Advisor for Dual Enrollment supports students in planning and achieving their educational goals within Northwestern’s programs. This role provides comprehensive academic advising, fosters student engagement and success, and facilitates onboarding to ensure smooth integration into the university community. The advisor monitors academic progress, collaborates across departments, and leverages data to promote retention and continuous improvement in advising practices. By partnering with Enrollment Management and maintaining expertise in academic programs and resources, the advisor advances student matriculation and overall success.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide Comprehensive Academic Advising - Guide students through degree requirements, create/update academic plans, and support informed course selection and registration.
• Foster Student Engagement and Success - Build strong relationships through proactive communication, encouragement, and problem-solving to promote retention and academic achievement.
• Facilitate Student Onboarding and Orientation - Prepare students to integrate into the university community, understand academic expectations, and access campus resources.
• Monitor Academic Progress and Intervene as Needed - Identify at-risk students, track performance, address academic concerns, and coach students toward recovery and completion.
• Collaborate Across University Departments - Ensure accurate records, smooth transitions, and coordinated support for students, including venue changes and appeals.
• Utilize Student Data for Advising and Continuous Improvement - Track enrollment patterns, progress, and inactive students to inform decisions and enhance advising strategies.
• Maintain Expertise in Academic Programs and Resources - Stay current on institutional requirements, program offerings, and support services to provide accurate and effective guidance.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum of two (2) years related experience
• Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community
Nice To Have:
• Previous experience in higher education

• Independent & Teamwork: Capable of working both independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision.
• Confidentiality: Maintains discretion and handles sensitive information appropriately.
• Organizational Skills: Strong time management and problem-solving abilities; able to prioritize and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
• Technical Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and related software specific to position
• Professional Knowledge: Working knowledge of academic advising practices, retention strategies, institutional policies, and student success principles.
• Written & Verbal Communication: Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
• Travel: Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for work-related purposes.
• Driver’s License: Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
• Background Check: Must pass initial and ongoing background checks as a condition of employment
