Position Summary:
The HR Coordinator provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department, with primary responsibility for coordinating background checks, collecting and maintaining new hire documentation, overseeing annual Years of Service Awards, and supporting the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources. This role also manages departmental email inboxes and other communications and performs a wide range of traditional HR office coordination and administrative functions. The HR Coordinator serves as a key point of contact for employees, candidates, and internal stakeholders, ensuring a high level of service, confidentiality, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
• Recruitment & Onboarding Support: Support recruitment processes by coordinating and processing required background checks for new and current employees and volunteers, monitoring status, and communicating results and follow up needs to HR partners and hiring leaders. Ensure complete and compliant new hire paperwork. Support onboarding processes by coordinating documentation, system access requests, and new hire communications as assigned.
• Administrative Support: Provide direct administrative support to supervisor through calendar and meeting coordination, preparation of materials and reports, and drafting correspondence, presentations, and other HR-related documents.
• HR Office & Departmental Coordination: Provide comprehensive HR office and departmental coordination by managing HR communication channels, supporting workflows and recurring processes, maintaining accurate documentation and records, reconciling department expense reports and cards, coordinating departmental resources and correspondence, assisting with data entry and audits across HR systems, and contributing to HR projects and organizational communications.
• Compliance: Support organizational compliance by coordinating updates to required federal, state, and local labor law postings, ensuring all physical and digital labor law posters remain current and properly distributed across all worksites and assisting in maintaining up-to-date HR communications, forms and documentation.
• Employee Recognition & Engagement: Coordinate years of service recognition program, including tracking eligibility, ordering and coordinating gifts and maintaining accurate records of employee service milestones and all associated recognition activities. Manage the ordering and distribution of gifts and flowers for specified organizational recognitions.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned

Qualifications:
Required:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in HR, administrative support, or related office/operations roles.
• Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community

Nice to Have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of two (2) years of HR experience, particularly in HR operations, recruiting support, or learning and development.

• Organization, Detail Orientation & Technical Proficiency – Manages time and priorities effectively, completes tasks with accuracy, follows workflows, and uses intermediate to advanced technology to complete and improve processes. Able to prioritize and meet deadlines with attention to detail, managing multiple projects and deadlines at a time.
• Professional Reliability & Independence – Works well independently and collaboratively, demonstrates initiative, meets deadlines, and maintains high standards of professionalism.
• Background Check: Must pass initial and ongoing background checks as a condition of employment.
