Position Summary:

Our Academy of Music Instructors are responsible to provide weekly private music lessons to members of the community. This is a part-time position based on instructor and student schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly 30, 45, or 60-minute lessons each semester to community students and maintain regular communication with parents regarding scheduling, make-up lessons, and other concerns.
  • Confirm lesson arrangements within 24 hours of receiving student names, and promptly submit any changes in scheduling, student lists, or required forms to the Academy Office.
  • Maintain professional communication by checking email and voicemail daily, and report absences or emergencies to the Academy Office as needed.
  • Ensure punctuality for all lessons, being mindful of time management, and make up any missed instructional time due to tardiness or absence.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • One year of teaching or related experience
  • Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community

Nice to Have:

  • Degree concentration in music

  • Independent & Teamwork: Capable of working both independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision. 
  • Confidentiality: Maintains discretion and handles sensitive information appropriately. 
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time management and problem-solving abilities; able to prioritize and meet deadlines with attention to detail. 
  • Technical Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and related software. 
  • Written & Verbal Communication: Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills. 
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. 
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for work-related purposes. 
  • Background Check: Must pass initial and ongoing background checks as a condition of employment.
