Title: Building Supervisor-Service Associate/Custodial Services

Position Compensation: $18.68 - $20.75 / hour
Location: University Campus - St. Paul, Minnesota

Position Summary:
Provides comprehensive building operations and custodial support to ensure facilities are safe, clean, functional, and ready to support daily activities, special events, and emergency response efforts. Oversees routine facility maintenance, project coordination, and student employee supervision in alignment with safety and operational standards.

The general schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with occasional on call responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Building Operations and Maintenance Oversight: Monitor building conditions, assess maintenance needs, submit and track work orders, and participate in facility project planning and implementation, including preparation of project status reports.
• Custodial Services and Facility Readiness: Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and readiness of classrooms, offices, common areas, and residence spaces through routine custodial services, waste disposal, supply replenishment, and minor maintenance tasks.
• Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment through proper use, storage, and maintenance of equipment, chemicals, and tools, including snow and ice response efforts to ensure safe building access during emergencies.
• Supervision and Training: Train, oversee, and support student employees by promoting safe work practices, proper equipment and chemical usage, and safe lifting techniques to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Logistics, Event, and Operational Support: Coordinate room set‑ups and tear‑downs for events and meetings and transport equipment, furniture, and materials between departments and buildings to support operational and program needs.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
• High school diploma or GED
• Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement and Declaration of Christian Community.

Nice to Have: Previous supervisory experience

Key Skills:
• Independent & Teamwork: Capable of working both independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision.
• Confidentiality: Maintains discretion and handles sensitive information appropriately.
• Organizational Skills: Strong time management and problem-solving abilities; able to prioritize and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
• Technical Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and related software.
• Written & Verbal Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed in on-call capacity, including snow emergency response to ensure safe access to facilities.
• Financial Oversight: Experience managing budgets and financial resources within assigned responsibilities.
• Driver’s License: Valid driver's license.
• Background Check: Must pass initial and ongoing background checks as a condition of employment.
